Biography

He completed his basic legal studies at the University of Athens. In 1995, he received his Ph.D. from the same University.

He is the author of 6 books and more than 40 academic papers on bioethics, biolaw, medical law, constitutional law, philosophy of law, sociology of law and environmental law.

He has presented numerous papers in international and national congresses, conferences, workshops, and academic seminars.

Senior investigator in international and national research projects, concerning especially issues of law and new technologies.

Independent expert of the European Commission in ethical reviews of biomedical and biotechnology research projects (FPs, ERC, Horizon 2020), and reviewer of the American journal Philosophy Study (ISSN 2159-5313).

In 2001 he was elected a senior scientist and legal advisor of the Hellenic National Bioethics Commission.

He teaches “Bioethics and Law” at the University of Crete (interdisciplinary PGP in Bioethics).

He is an attorney at law (Athens Bar) since 1988.
