Voula Georgopoulos is Professor of Informatics Applications in Speech Therapy and Dean of the School of Health and Welfare Professions of the Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece. She holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace, an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University. Prior to her current position, she worked in the US at GTE Laboratories as a consultant, the MITRE Corporation as Member of Technical staff, and in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Dept. of Ohio University as an Assistant Professor.
She is author of over 80 peer-reviewed publications in journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings in the areas of medical decision support systems, fuzzy cognitive maps, signal processing, telecommunications, and augmentative alternative communication technology. Through her multiyear experience she has participated in EU-, US- and nationally-funded projects.
