Practical Deployment of Interoperability – A WORKSHOP for e-Health Managers

This session is divided in three parts to provide a comprehensive overview on the use case based approach requirements for supporting future procurements on interoperability in eHealth, within the legal constraints of a tender.
The first part will develop recommendations on how to engage the development the tender specifications for an ehealth project based on the use case approach and selection of Profiles and Standards. The section will also present some examples of deployment of eHealth projects. (Vincent Van Pelt, NICTIZ).
A pharmacy example, will present use case and profiles for Pharmacy ePrescription (Leonidas Tzimis, IHE-Pharmacy, Co-Chair for Users & Hospital Pharmacist, Chania General Hospital, Greece)
The second part will focus on the procurement itself. After a review of the new European procurement regulation that simplifies the bidding of SMEs, the speaker will focus on the application in the eHealth sector and more specifically on the procurement of products that are interoperable. Highlights on the different types of standards and technical specifications will complete this landscape. It will conclude with a presentation of the set of IHE integration profiles recommended by the EU Commission for ehealth procurement in the European market (Charles Parisot, IHE-Europe).
The last presentation will present the use-case driven approach in order to support procurers in the preparation of their tenders. Based on experiences on eHealth projects deployed in other countries in Europe, the speaker will also introduce, for each step of the approach, available tools that will save time to procurers and project managers (Karima Bourquard, IHE-Europe).
